Swindle

Jesus said, “Truly, I say to you, there is no one who has left house or brothers or sisters or mother or father or children or lands, for my sake and for the gospel, who will not receive a hundredfold now in this time, houses and brothers and sisters and mothers and children and lands, with persecutions, and in the age to come eternal life. (Mark 10:29 ESV)

Some days this seems like a swindle. It’s like a car payment plan: zero percent interest after the principal is paid off! Or a restaurant special: dead people eat free!

“For the present form of this world is passing away.” (1 Corinthians 7:31 ESV). Amen!  And if this world is passing away, then how much more our faint lives? But meanwhile this is all we have. While we are in this time, we are in time. Eternity is meaningless here. Might as well sell kites on the moon.

I am not a patient man. But why should I be patient now, while it is still called today? Patience, too, is vanity.
